Deon H. Hayman is a 1999 graduate from
UCLA, with studies in Film, Television Screenwriting, Directing, and a degree in Ancient Civilizations. He gained much
of his production experience working in the Creative Department of “Walt Disney Imagineering” for five years,
where he assisted in writing and developing projects ranging from theme park 4-D rides, to major feature films, such as
“Pirates of the Caribbean”. For several years, he worked in the field of Casting. He has written
several pilots and over a dozen feature-length screenplays—several became finalist in major screenplay competitions
and optioned. Deon
directed the pilot “Poetri-n-Motion”, starring Tony Award Winning Poet-Comedian-Actor Devin “Poetri”
Smith. He wrote, directed and produced “The Don of Virgil Jr. High”, winning six “Best Film”
awards, winner in the NBC-Universal Short Cuts, and an “Official Selection” in the 2010 Cannes Independent Film
Festival. His short, “The Historian Paradox”, won the “Audience Choice Short Film” Award in
the Big Island Film Festival, “Official Selection” in the 2011 Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival,
and nominated “Best Drama”, “Best Actor” and “Best Writer” in the 2012 International TV
Film Festival.
As co-host and producer of a weekly talk show, “A Race for the Times”, Deon was an award-winning
Radio Personality for KSJS, at a student-operated radio station covering Northern California’s Bay Area. There,
he also managed a weekly Hip-Hop radio program, which was voted the Nation’s number one College Radio Program two years
consecutively.
